Not every tip applies to every store. A Shopify store and a Magento store face different technical realities. Read through the list, identify the tips that match your situation, and start with the ones that combine high impact with low difficulty. Those quick wins build momentum and often show results within weeks rather than months.

We organized the tips into four categories: technical SEO, on-page optimization, content, and off-page. Start with technical fixes. If your foundation has issues, on-page and content work will underperform.

Technical SEO tips

Tip 1: Compress and convert your product images. Impact: high. Difficulty: easy. Most ecommerce stores serve product images that are 2 to 5 times larger than they need to be. Run your images through a tool like ShortPixel or Squoosh to compress them, and convert to WebP format. For a store with 3,000 products, this can reduce total page weight by 40 to 60% and improve Largest Contentful Paint by 1 to 2 seconds. On Shopify, use an image optimization app. On Magento, configure the built-in image optimization or use a CDN with automatic format conversion.
